Dear Colleagues!

As a head of this department I am welcoming you to Sakarya. The Department of German Translation and Interpreting started to instruct at the academic year 2000-2001. The number of students of our department is smaller than the departments of German Translation and Interpreting in Turkey. Nevertheless the importance of these departments as well as well trained translators and interpreters always increases. The fact of the matter is that you are lucky to study this subject. First of all you must pass the courses in preperation class with good notes. That is the first condition to be successful in the next semesters. Beside that you have to be sure that you are able to cope with regular works and courses. In your study you will study many specific and occupation-referred subjects. Such as terminology, technical language, translation processes, translation criticism, translation methods etc. Then you will be able to translate easily. This area is very fastidious. Although this area is very difficult, you have good career opportunities, with other words you have good chance if Turkey becamea a member of EU. In every case you have to work very enthusiastically. To be succesful in your study, will help you in your future occupation. During your study you will spend more time with us than with your parents. Sakarya will become your second hometown, which you will gladly remember later. We all instructors hope that you will keep the study time in good memory. As you know, we are always ready to advice and assist you.
